Project Proposal

Updated: Oct 11, 2018

The goal for this semester is to "master" stained glass art. My hope is to build a chandelier with stained glass components. The theme of the chandelier will be starry night/space in nature; it will incorporate star shape polygons, moons, and stars. The star shape polygons will house the light bulbs.

I learned from my warm up project that working with glass and creating stained glass art is incredibly difficult and dangerous. You have to deal with glass dust, broken glass, lead, zinc flux - all of which could probably kill you. So, in my final project I will need to find a better studio to work in (ventilation wise). I also learned that lead free solder is hard to work with and looks like shit and that you need to be precise with cutting/grinding your glass in order to make the piece fit together. Going forward, I will need to refine these skills and use lead solder.
